In a groundbreaking development for India’s mining industry, a successful trial of the digital Dozer Push Mining technology was conducted at the Parsa East Kete Basan (PEKB) mine in Chhattisgarh’s Udaipur block, led by Adani Natural Resources. This trial, guided by CSIR and CIMFR, marks a major milestone towards autonomous digital mining, with the aim of enhancing productivity and safety.
The innovative Dozer Push Mining method uses an unmanned automated drill to perform cast blasting, followed by the use of a specially designed large dozer machine to move the blasted material to designated areas. This technology aims to overcome challenges posed by traditional truck-shovel mining, particularly during the rainy season when roads become muddy and unsafe. By reducing reliance on trucks and excavators, it optimizes mining operations and lowers costs, offering a more sustainable and efficient approach.
This Method Could Revolutionize OC Mining in India
The success of this first-ever test in India has been lauded by Dr. M.P. Roy, Chief Scientist at CIMFR, who highlighted that this method could revolutionize open-cast mining in India. “The Dozer Push Mining method is a modern alternative to traditional dragline and truck/shovel excavation, enhancing speed, efficiency, and reducing operational costs,” said Dr. Roy.
The trial was led by CSIR-CIMFR Director, Prof. Arvind Kumar Mishra, with key contributions from Dr. M.P. Roy, Dr. Vivek Kumar Himanshu, Mr. R.S. Yadav, Mr. Suraj Kumar, and Dr. Ashish Kumar Vishwakarma. This milestone positions India as a leader in adopting cutting-edge mining technologies, shaping the future of the industry.
