The Jharkhand Revenue, Registration, and Land Reforms Department has launched a comprehensive review of all mining leases in the State to ensure adherence to regulations. The investigation will focus on verifying the clarity of consideration amounts in lease registrations, proper execution by authorized Government representatives, and compliance with stamp duty and registration fees.
Inspectors will also examine documents related to cooperative societies and other entities. Any discrepancies will prompt corrective actions, addressing concerns raised by the Accountant General regarding irregularities. This initiative is part of the Government’s push to enhance transparency, curb corruption, and boost revenue collection in the mining sector.
Review of Past Registrations
The directive includes the retrospective review of all mining leases registered in previous years. The department has asked for detailed inspection reports to include findings on these registrations. Any irregularities identified during the investigation will lead to appropriate legal or administrative action. The findings from this review are expected to set a precedent for stricter compliance in the future, ensuring that Jharkhand’s mineral wealth is managed transparently and effectively.
