The Ministry of Power has granted approval for the setup of two new 800 MW Ultra Spercritical Thermal Power Plant project. On 14th Feb (Friday), the Ministry of Power has granted approval for this ambitious project, marking a major milestone in the nation’s energy sector. A letter of confirmation has been issued by Mr. J. Mishra, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Power.

The power plants will be a joint venture between DVC and Coal India Limited. The estimated cost of the project, which includes the construction of two units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, is Rs. 16,425 crore. The proposal from DVC has received in-principle approval from the Minister of Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Following the Ministry’s approval for the establishment of the Ultra Super Critical Plant in Chandrapura, Bokaro.
The plants will operate at higher efficiency levels compared to conventional plants, reducing the environmental impact and supporting India’s commitment to cleaner, greener energy. Once operational, these plants will not only contribute significantly to power generation but also help in creating numerous employment opportunities and boost the local economy.
