Budget Session Will Start Today in Jharkhand
The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s Budget session will start today, and will last until 27th March. Governor Santosh Gangwar will address the house, and Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore will present the 2025-26 budget on 3rd March. Opposition parties, including BJP, have prepared to raise issues like OBC reservation and pension delays. The Government aims to address critical matters, including JPSC leadership and public grievances.
Displaced Groups to Protest for Rights at Jharkhand Assembly
Two groups, Jharkhand Rajya Visthapan Sangharsh Morcha and Jharkhand Andolankari Sangharsh Morcha, will protest at the Vidhan Sabha on 24th March, will demand the formation of a displaced person’s commission and the enforcement of the 2013 Land Acquisition Act. Former MP Bhuwaneshwar Mehta highlighted the issues faced by 45 lakh displaced people due to forced land acquisition.
Jharkhand’s Rs. 21,000 Crore Development Projects Stalled
Over Rs. 21,000 crore worth of projects in Jharkhand, including roads, irrigation, and building constructions, remain stalled due to land disputes and delays in obtaining necessary NOCs. Key projects in 14 districts, like irrigation plans worth Rs. 16,922 crore and roadworks worth Rs. 3,643 crore, are hindered, impacting development in areas like Palamu, Hazaribagh, and Simdega.
Tata Steel’s Noamundi Mines Shine at MEMC Awards
Tata Steel’s Noamundi and Vijay Iron Mines won seven awards at the 31st Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) Week 2023-24. Noamundi Mines won the Overall Performance category in A-One group mines, while Vijayan-2 Mines took the award in Mineral Conservation. The event, held in Ranchi, saw participation from 31 mines across the state.
Green Light for Irba-Angada-Silli Transmission Line
The long-delayed Irba-Angada-Silli transmission line project has received approval, promising relief from power shortages for Ranchi and surrounding areas. Work will resume under a new contractor, Oriental Company, after the previous one was blacklisted. With funding from the World Bank, both lines are expected to be completed by 2025, improving electricity supply and grid reliability.
Protest Against Fraud in Amrapali Coal Project Continues
In the Amrapali Coal Project, villagers in Serandag and nearby areas continue protesting against a fraudulent Gram Sabha meeting held for railway siding construction. They demand legal action against those involved in forgery and the removal of unnecessary land acquisition under Section 9. The villagers also announced a boycott of the upcoming 15th Gram Sabha, seeking resolution before further meetings.
Villagers Protested Land Puja for Mining in Kotare Basantpur
KBP Company conducted a land puja for mining in Kotare Basantpur, Ramgarh, under heavy security. Despite attempts by local officials to negotiate, villagers opposed the project, demanding compensation and jobs. They were concerned about unaddressed land issues for non-cultivable areas and job promises. The company could not proceed as protests, especially by women, blocked access to the site.
Umesh Dubey Got Additional Charge of Three Forest Areas
Umesh Kumar Dubey, Ranger of Garu Eastern Forest Range, took additional charge of Mahuadand, Garu Western, and Betla Forest areas. He met with staff, gathered details about the regions, and emphasized strengthening forest protection and administrative operations. Dubey warned against illegal activities like tree cutting and mining, pledging strict action against offenders.
30 Mining Lease Holders Fined Rs. 40 Crore
The Mining Department has imposed a Rs. 40 crore fine on approximately 30 mining leaseholders in Giridih for violating mining limits. These leaseholders were found extracting more resources than allowed, causing revenue loss to the government. While some have paid, others will receive another notice for payment in the coming days. The department remains tight-lipped about the issue.
Villagers Protested Against CCL Management in Balumath
Residents from several villages near the Magadh Sanghmitra project in Balumath and Tandwa held a meeting to protest against CCL management. They raised concerns over illegal land encroachments and the installation of high-tension poles without proper clearance. The villagers, led by local leaders, decided to submit a formal complaint to the Deputy Commissioner and CCL management.
