The budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will begin on 24th February. The session, which will continue until 27th March, was discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Hon’ble Speaker Rabindranath Mahato on 18th February at the assembly hall. Top officials of Jharkhand Government, including Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, DGP Anurag Gupta, Home Secretary Vandana Dadel, and others departmental secretaries and their representatives attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on several key issues, including the timely and proper responses to the questions raised in the house during the budget session, as well as matters related to law and order. Speaker Rabindranath Mahato instructed the officials to ensure that any questions raised by the members of the house are answered accurately and promptly. He mentioned that there are complaints about departments not providing appropriate responses, and this issue needs to be addressed.
Regarding law and order, the Speaker gave strict instructions, and emphasized that during the budget session, the budget proposals must be presented and passed. As such, long sessions are expected, and there may be protests or demonstrations over various demands during the session. To prevent any disruptions, law and order must be strictly maintained so that no one faces any problems.
The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s budget session will start with the Governor’s Address. At 11:30 AM on the first day, Hon’ble Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will address the house. On 25th February, there will be a discussion on the Governor’s Address. On 3rd March, the state Government will present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, 2025-26. The budget session, which will span 20 working days, is expected to be significant, with the presentation of State Government bills alongside the new budget.
