Chitrapur Coal Project GM Jyoti Mohan Sinha Dies in Ranchi
Jyoti Mohan Sinha, General Manager of Odisha Alloy Steel Private Limited’s Chitrapur Coal Project in Chandwa, died at Raj Hospital in Ranchi on Sunday evening. His last rites were performed in Ranchi on Monday. News of his death led to grief among officers and employees of the project. Colleagues expressed condolences following the demise of the senior official.

Former Tata Steel Officer Dies After Falling from 10th Floor
Former Tata Steel Merchant Mill officer Sandeep Pal, 62, died after falling from the 10th floor of Vijaya Garden Phase-7 in Jamshedpur’s Birshanagar area early Monday morning. He reportedly went to the terrace without informing anyone and jumped. Residents found him unconscious near a fire pipe and took him to TMH, where doctors declared him dead. Police registered an unnatural death case.

India to Export Electricity to Nepal Until 31st December
India has approved electricity exports to Nepal for 18 hours daily from 13th September to 31st December. Up to 600 MW can be supplied through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar 400 kV line and 54 MW through the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar line. Nepal’s hydropower projects were damaged by recent floods, reducing domestic generation. The move will help meet Nepal’s electricity needs and strengthen bilateral energy cooperation.

Solar Industries to Acquire South Africa’s Omnia Holdings
Solar Industries India Limited has signed an agreement to acquire South Africa-based Omnia Holdings Limited for around 13,000 crore. Omnia is a diversified global group operating in mining, agriculture and chemicals. The transaction will be completed entirely in cash. Solar Industries Managing Director Manish Nuwal said the acquisition is expected to be completed by the middle of 2027, subject to necessary approvals.

NSE Among Five Companies to Launch IPOs This Week
Five companies, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Hero Motors, SS Retail, Jindal Supreme India and Sona Selection India, will launch IPOs this week. Together, they aim to raise 24,335 crore through share sales. NSE’s issue is the largest at 22,568.94 crore. Three SME IPOs from Vama Wovenfab, Quanto Agroworld and Shakti Polytrap will also open, raising 107.96 crore.

Karali Landowners Prepare Protest Against NTPC Coal Project
Landowners and villagers of Karali in Hazaribagh have decided to launch a protest against land acquisition for the proposed Chattibariatu South coal mining project. A meeting at the Kali temple opposed the acquisition and prepared a signed application seeking cancellation of the notification. Around 33.83 acres in Karali and 1,839.14 acres across 11 villages are proposed for acquisition, affecting agricultural land.

Villagers Launch Protest Against Hindalco Over Bauxite Mining
Thousands of villagers from around 50 to 60 bauxite mining-affected villages began a protest against Hindalco near Devaki in Ghaghra. They stopped movement of trucks carrying bauxite and demanded roads, electricity, water, schools and better healthcare. Villagers also sought permanent jobs, fair wages and safety for PAP workers. They alleged basic facilities have remained inadequate despite decades of mining operations in the area.

E-Auction of Sand Ghats in Ranchi Scheduled for 3rd October
Ranchi district mining department has started the e-auction process for 14 sand ghats and ghat groups for the sixth time. The process will be conducted online under the Jharkhand Sand Mining Rules, 2025. Tender documents will be available from 18th September, while a pre-bid meeting and training will be held on 21st September. Online bidding will take place on 3rd October.

Mineral Rich Jharkhand Still Struggles for Development
Former Bihar MP Anand Mohan Singh said Jharkhand’s original vision of development, prosperity and rights over water, forests and land remains incomplete. Speaking in Jamshedpur, he said the state has 8abundant mineral resources but continues to face poverty and unemployment. Singh stressed the need to revise mineral royalty rates, which he said have remained unchanged for around two decades, and improve development.

Jharkhand High Court Orders Twice Yearly Inspection of Factories
The Jharkhand High Court has directed the State Pollution Control Board to conduct inspections of Bihar Foundry and Casting Limited and Dayal Steel Limited in Ramgarh twice a year. At least one inspection must be without prior notice. The court ordered monitoring of emissions, waste and pollution-control systems, with action for violations. It also directed fresh water testing and compliance reporting.

Jharkhand to Raise Strong Objections Against MMDR Amendment
Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore will raise the state’s concerns over the amended MMDR law at a 17th September meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi. The state expects potential revenue loss of around 14,000 crore from mineral bearing land cess. Jharkhand will also raise mineral rights, financial federalism and recovery of nearly 1.36 lakh crore in pending dues from coal companies.

Jharkhand Government Refuses to Remove Mineral Cess
Jharkhand has collected 4,657 crore through mineral cess in the current financial year till August and decided to continue the levy despite the amended MMDR Act. The State Government plans to challenge the law in the Supreme Court. It will also introduce an Inter State Transit Pass system for minerals entering Jharkhand, while former Chief Minister Raghubar Das said the cess has increased coal and iron prices
