Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government has again sought details of eligible officers from various departments for promotion from State Administrative Service posts to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department has written to departments asking them to submit the names of officers who meet the eligibility criteria.
Names to Be Reviewed Before UPSC
The names received from different departments will first be examined and reviewed by the State Government. After this scrutiny, the names of eligible officers will be forwarded to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The commission will then consider the officers under the prescribed procedure for promotion to the IAS.

According to the sources, the Personnel Department had earlier sought a list of officers against one IAS promotion post. Five names are to be selected and forwarded to the UPSC for consideration. The earlier list submitted to the State Government reportedly contained a large number of names from the Child Development Project Officer cadre, following which the department undertook a fresh review.
Details Sought From Key Departments
The department has now sought fresh details from several departments, including Road Construction, Water Resources, Finance, Planning and Development, and Agriculture, besides other departments. They have been asked to identify and submit the names of eligible officers so that the state can complete the next stage of the promotion process and forward the shortlisted names to the UPSC.
