Rajnagar: Villagers of Badakanki village under Bana panchayat in Rajnagar block of Seraikela Kharsawan district gave unanimous consent to the proposed stone mining lease at a Gram Sabha held on 16th September 2026. The meeting was chaired by Gram Pradhan (Village Head) Vishwapati Mahto, where the proposal was discussed in detail before villagers agreed to the lease and initiated the process for issuing the required No Objection Certificate (NOC).

The Gram Sabha discussed the proposed minor mineral stone mining lease at Badakanki Mauna in accordance with directions issued by the district mining office, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and the block administration. The proposal covers a total of 6.91 acres spread across plot numbers 11, 12 (part), 13, 14 and 15 (part). The meeting was held in compliance with the instructions contained in the district mining office letter No. 836/MM dated 6th July 2026, and the block level letter No. 595 dated 27th August 2026.

Crusher Plant Also Received Consent
Gram Pradhan Vishwapati Mahto said the proposed lease was discussed with the villagers before the consent was recorded. He said those present at the Gram Sabha unanimously agreed to the proposal. Bana panchayat mukhiya Ramsingh Hembram said the villagers had also given unanimous consent for setting up a crusher plant in connection with the proposal.

Following the villagers’ consent, the remaining formalities will be completed as per the applicable rules. The Gram Sabha proceedings included the required administrative process for the proposed lease and NOC. The final development of the mining project will depend on completion of the prescribed statutory and administrative procedures.
Administration Maintained Law and Order
Panchayat secretary Ashok Kumar Mahto attended the meeting as supervisor, while mukhiya Ramsingh Hembram represented the panchayat. An administrative team was also deployed to maintain law and order during the Gram Sabha. The meeting concluded peacefully after the villagers recorded their consent to the proposed mining lease.
