Chandil: Villagers in Nimdih block have placed a 25 point demand charter before SM Steels, seeking priority for local youth in employment and a greater role for affected families in development-related decisions. The demands were raised by the Sapt Gram Vikas Sangh during a meeting with company representatives at the Aadardih Community Hall.
The meeting, chaired by Sangh president Jayant Kumar Rajak, covered employment, local development, land donor rights, environmental protection and rehabilitation. The villagers sought priority for eligible youth from the seven villages in permanent, temporary and other suitable employment opportunities available with the company. They also called for transparency in the application, selection and recruitment process, with relevant information to be shared with representatives of the Sangh.

The villagers said eligible members of families who had given their land for the industrial project should receive priority in employment and other economic opportunities. They also sought proper attention to the interests of people affected by the project, along with company responsibility towards local development, environmental protection and rehabilitation.
The Sangh said industrial activity in the area had created expectations among local residents, making regular dialogue and participation important in matters related to jobs and development. It said the demands would be pursued through peaceful and democratic discussions rather than confrontation.
Company Assured Discussion on Demands
Representatives of SM Steels said the villagers’ demands would be placed before senior officials and that efforts would be made to find a solution through discussions. Company officials Sudhir, Subhash Chander and Suraj Singh, along with Sangh secretary Alok Kumar and other members, attended the meeting.
