Ranchi: Jharkhand is exploring investments in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and other emerging technology sectors, with the state targeting 95,000 jobs through its planned IT and technology push. Chief Minister Hemant Soren discussed these opportunities with RMZ Infrastructure chairman Deepak Chhabria during a meeting in Ranchi on Monday.
Focus on IT, AI and Emerging Sectors
The meeting covered investment opportunities in IT, AI, semiconductors, nuclear energy and digital infrastructure. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the Government was working to build a modern IT ecosystem in the State and create an environment for global companies to undertake high skill operations from Jharkhand. He added that the focus was not only on attracting investment but also on creating employment and skill based opportunities for local youth.

According to the targets discussed, Jharkhand aims to create 20,000 jobs through IT parks by 2029, while another 75,000 jobs are targeted over the next three years. The Government is seeking to connect the state’s industrial and technology base with newer areas of the economy, including digital services and advanced manufacturing. The targets will depend on the development of projects and actual investments in these sectors.
GCCs Seen as a New Opportunity
Hemant Soren said Jharkhand could serve as a base for global companies in areas such as IT and AI services, semiconductors, manufacturing, nuclear energy and digital infrastructure. GCCs, in particular, could bring high skill work to the State if the required infrastructure and business ecosystem are developed. RMZ Infrastructure expressed interest in technology and digital infrastructure related opportunities in the state. Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar and IT & e-Governance Secretary Pooja Singhal were also present at the meeting.
