Jamshedpur: A 436.93 acre land parcel of Tata Power land in Kukdu, Seraikela-Kharsawan district, is being considered for development as a new industrial park after the company’s proposed project on the land could not take shape. Tata Power has proposed handing over the raiyati land to the Government for industrial use, following which the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA) has started physical verification and measurement of the site.
JIADA has formed a joint committee comprising officials from its Adityapur and Ranchi offices, technical experts and authorised representatives of Tata Power. The committee has been asked to prepare an Industrial Feasibility Report within 15 days. The assessment will examine the ownership and legal status of the land, road and transport connectivity, and the availability of infrastructure required for industrial operations. JIADA plans to submit the final report to the State Government by November.

The proposal comes at a time when the Adityapur Industrial Area is facing a shortage of land for new industries. Tata Power has suggested developing an industrial park on the nearly 437-acre parcel, which could provide an additional location for industrial units outside the existing Adityapur cluster. The proposal also has potential to create employment opportunities for local youth and support economic activity in the Kukdu area, subject to the outcome of the feasibility assessment and Government approval.
Separately, two civic and public infrastructure projects worth Rs. 26.49 lakh are started today in the Jamshedpur West assembly constituency.
