ISKCON Ranchi is preparing for a grand Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav, with a series of religious and cultural programmes scheduled from 30th August to 4th September 2026. The celebrations will begin with a five day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and conclude with the main Janmashtami programme on 4th September.
The Shrimad Bhagwat Katha will be held every day from 5 pm to 8 pm between 30th August and 3rd September. Devotees will be able to attend the Katha along with devotional kirtan and bhajans. Night prasadam will also be served. The Katha will be delivered by Shriman Leela Purushottam Prabhu, Director, IIT Mandi, Bhaktivedanta University and Gurukul, Vrindavan.
Governor to Attend Main Janmashtami Programme
The main Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav will be held on 4th September, from 4 pm to 12:30 am. Jharkhand Hon’ble Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will attend the programme as Chief Guest. The organisers have planned devotional cultural performances, Janmashtami kirtan, live tableaux showing the pastimes of Lord Krishna and Mahabhishek darshan. Devotees will also get an opportunity to swing Shri Shri Radha-Krishna and Laddu Gopal on the jhula.
The Bhagwat Katha and Janmashtami celebrations will take place near Swastik ENT Hospital, opposite DAV Hehal School, Kathal More, Ranchi. ISKCON Ranchi has invited devotees as well as the general public to attend the programmes with their families and participate in the Janmashtami celebrations. The organisers have appealed to people to join the event and celebrate the occasion with devotion and joy.
1008 Bhog and Mahaprasad will be Part of Celebrations
A Vedic exhibition and mela will also be organised during the event. One of the special attractions will be the 1008 Bhog offering to Lord Shri Krishna, followed by Mahaprasad distribution among devotees and visitors. The organisers said the programme has been planned to bring together devotion, music and Indian cultural traditions. The five-day Katha will focus on the life, teachings and philosophy of Lord Krishna.
