Pakur: Rural women entrepreneurs in Pakur will get support to improve, brand and market their products under an incubation programme launched jointly by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. The programme aims to help women move beyond small livelihood activities and develop their local products into viable businesses.

The programme was launched at the district collectorate auditorium on Saturday in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj, DDC Arvind Kumar Lal, Zila Parishad vice-chairman Ashok Kumar Bhagat, MLA representative Gokul Ahmed and JSLPS DPM Praveen Mishra. Bhardwaj said rural women associated with JSLPS had already started businesses on a small scale and now needed support in branding, value addition and access to wider markets. She referred to local products such as mahua, kachhu and mushrooms as areas where training and value addition could create better market opportunities.
Training, Certification and Financial Support
DDC Arvind Kumar Lal said the programme would identify rural entrepreneurs and connect them with product certification, branding, financial support and markets. Better value addition and marketing, he said, could improve the earnings of small producers. IIM Calcutta Innovation Park representative Alok Kumar said selected entrepreneurs would receive training and technical guidance along with support in marketing and expanding their businesses.
Women’s Groups to Learn Business Expansion
The programme also focused on helping women Self Help Groups (SHGs) understand product development, business expansion, financial management and market linkages. Zila Parishad vice chairman Ashok Kumar Bhagat said small businesses could provide the foundation for larger enterprises and that rural women needed better access to markets for their products. The organisers said stronger local enterprises could create employment opportunities within the district and help reduce migration.
