Construction of a Rs. 3,147 crore section of NH-43 from Pathalgaon-Kunkuri to the Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border has begun, opening the way for a major improvement in road connectivity between Jashpur and neighbouring Jharkhand. The 104.25 km stretch is part of the 627 km Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor, which is expected to improve the movement of passengers, goods and minerals across the region.
104.25-Km Section Under Construction
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started work on the Pathalgaon-Kunkuri to Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border section of NH-43. The wider Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor covers 627 km, of which about 384 km falls in Chhattisgarh. The project is being developed as a four-lane highway and is expected to provide a stronger road link between the two states.

Road Designed for Safer Movement
The project includes 382 small and large structures, comprising seven major bridges, 30 minor bridges, six flyovers and one elevated viaduct. It will also have vehicular, light-vehicle, small-vehicle and cattle-pedestrian underpasses, along with 278 box culverts. These structures are planned to improve local movement, drainage and safety along the highway.
Better Link for Industry and Mineral Transport
The new road is expected to strengthen links between industrial centres in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. According to NHAI, the corridor will connect Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh and Korba more efficiently with Dhanbad and improve logistics for coal mines and steel plants in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Faster movement of goods and minerals could also reduce travel

Jashpur to Gain Wider Road Network
The corridor will bring Pathalgaon, Kansabel, Kunkuri, Duldula and Jashpur into a better-connected highway network. NHAI said improved connectivity is expected to support trade, goods movement and employment opportunities in local communities. For Jashpur, the project is particularly significant as the new highway will provide a direct and stronger road link towards Jharkhand and the wider economic corridor.
