Pakur: CSR funds in Pakur will now be used for projects selected according to local needs and their long term public utility. Education, healthcare, safe drinking water, sports, strengthening of anganwadi centres and skill development have been identified as priority areas. The decision was taken at a meeting of the District CSR Committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj.

During the meeting, Bhardwaj told company representatives that CSR projects should address the district’s actual requirements and benefit the maximum number of people for a longer period. She said public interest, quality and utility should guide projects from selection to implementation rather than companies taking up arbitrary works.

Companies Asked to Coordinate With District Committee
The Deputy Commissioner directed companies to coordinate with the District CSR Committee before selecting and implementing new projects. The move is aimed at avoiding duplication of similar schemes in the same area and ensuring better use of available CSR resources. Companies were also asked to focus on durable projects that provide sustained benefits to local communities.
2026-27 Action Plan Reviewed
The committee reviewed the proposed CSR action plan for 2026-27 and took stock of projects undertaken by companies during 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26. Officials were asked to complete pending projects within the stipulated timeframe and maintain the required quality. Regular progress reports were also sought from the companies.

The administration also discussed utilisation certificates related to projects completed in earlier financial years and directed departments and companies to ensure necessary coordination. Deputy Development Commissioner Arvind Kumar Lal, ITDA Project Director Arun Kumar Ekka, District Land Acquisition Officer Amit Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Sangeeta Bara, District Education Officer Anita Purti, District Education Superintendent Priyashi Bhagat and representatives of various coal companies attended the meeting.
